Seems, Lenovo, which is making a concerted global push into computing devices like tablets and Ultrabooks, is now focusing smartphones for its business expansion.

It is reportedly said that Lenovo has already found distribution partners in the three developing countries including India, the Philippines and Indonesia.

According to Milko Van Duijl, President for the Asia-Pacific and Latin America regions, Lenovo has commenced smartphone sales two and a half years back in China and is now ready to expand its smartphone market outside China.

Latest stats revealed, Lenovo grabbed 11 percent market share in the second quarter with its LePhone in China, up from a single-digit percentage in the first quarter when it was ranked 7th.  Samsung Electronics retained its lead position with a share of around 16 percent. Apple ranked 4th.

Lenovo has recently enhanced its smartphone portfolio with the announcement of a new LePhone K860 smartphone , which features a quad-core processor. Other key features include 5-inch touchscreen display, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system, Exynos 4412 quad-core processor processor, 1GB RAM and 8MP camera which can capture videos at 1080p.

It is worth noticing, Lenovo is named as the biggest vendor of personal computers in India recently.

Seems, Lenovo is seeking to build a strong position in the fast-growing smartphone market, where it has not seen much success till date.
