Cisco ASR 901 Wins the Economic Times Telecom Award 2012 for the most Innovative Product

Cisco has announced that the Cisco ASR 901 Router was adjudged the most innovative product at The Economic Times Telecom Awards 2012, under the Telecom Infrastructure Product category. The product was selected from a field of 22 other submissions in this category. The award was presented to Cisco at the recently held Economic Times Telecom Awards night in New Delhi, in the presence of the chief guest, Mr. Kapil Sibal, Union Minister of HRD, Communications & IT- Government of India, and other leaders and dignitaries from the industry.


The ASR 901, developed by Cisco’s engineering team in India, received the award for its innovation in creating a unified platform to serve the needs of 2G/3G/4G mobile backhaul and Carrier Ethernet applications. Submissions were judged on innovation in the product, impact on various stakeholders such as company, customers, industry, society, etc., and the ability to sustain and scale the idea in the future.

This is the second significant recognition for the ASR 901, firmly establishing it as a break-through product in this space. Earlier this year, the product received the NASSCOM Innovation Award in the New
