Compuware Named a Leader in Application Performance Monitoring Magic Quadrant

Wednesday 29 August 2012

Compuware Corporation has announced that Gartner Inc. has placed Compuware in the “Leaders” quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for Application Performance Monitoring (APM) report. The report evaluated 14 vendors on completeness of vision and ability to execute.

Compuware’s APM business is growing and gaining market share extremely rapidly. Last quarter (Q1), Compuware saw a 95 percent year-over-year increase in APM license fees, and added 197 new, paying APM customers.

According to Gartner, APM has become a central focus for IT operations and growth in spend continues, while the market evolves rapidly. By the end of 2012, Gartner estimates that the global spend for APM software will grow to $2.14 billion, a 9 percent growth over the $2 billion spent in 2011.

Driving Compuware’s growth is the ROI achieved by taming the complexity of today’s application landscape. Complexity – at the edge, in the cloud and in the data center – driven by emerging technologies like public and private clouds, big data, virtualization, smartphones and tablets, is causing organizations to move away from legacy APM tool providers to more progressive, focused and innovative solutions. Compuware’s modern, new-generation APM solution provides deep transaction performance insight from the end-user’s perspective and delivers 2x faster time-to-market, 10x faster transactions, 10x-100x faster time to problem resolution.

We are extremely pleased and honored that Gartner has positioned Compuware as a leader in the application performance monitoring Magic Quadrant announced by John Van Siclen, General Manager of Compuware’s APM business unit. There’s a profound change taking place in the APM market; old, traditional APM tools no longer cut it and don’t offer the capabilities needed to address today’s application complexity. The shift to composite applications, rapid release cycles and more dynamic agile platforms favors Compuware’s modern, new-generation approach to APM. The guard is changing, and we believe that our approach is redefining APM, and our business results are beginning to show it. With our new-generation APM system, our customers can quickly achieve significant cost savings, increased revenue and rapid time-to-value simultaneously, maximizing the value of their applications.
